A second life for electric vehicle batteries – The CircuBAT project has successfully concluded its four-year mission to close the loop between the production, use, and recycling of lithium-ion batteries. Bringing together seven Swiss research institutions, amongst them our Swiss Battery Technology Center, and 24 industry partners, the project supported by Innosuisse’s Flagship Initiative has paved the way for a circular economy in e-mobility—developing innovative, market-ready solutions for more sustainable batteries. The results, presented at CircuBAT2025 on 13–14 November in Bern, highlight how strong collaboration between science and industry can turn visionary research into tangible impact.
